Rusty is a 14-year-old roan pony.
He and his human went to NBHA barrel races until she aged out of ponies. He came to live at TROT where he works with younger advanced riders in competition.
We could never have guessed that this firebreathing speedster would make the huge transition to carrying our most fragile and handicapped individuals. He has become a backbone of our program, carrying individuals with cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries and other physical issues.
He walks slowly and carefully around the ring, gently balancing each rider on his back. But when asked to give a child a little trotting time he sweetly trots slowly and gently, loving the laughter his young riders reward him with.
