Dei was donated by his family after their home was destroyed by a tornado. A dwarf, he is the smallest equine at TROT, standing only 24 inches tall. Our dogs are bigger than Dei!
He travels to nursing homes and schools, spreading joy and encouraging reading in schools.
Dei is special because a few years ago he broke his leg. Usually, horses have to be put to sleep because their legs can’t usually be fixed.
But Dei was small enough that the faculty at Auburn thought he might be able to manage. He was a teaching case for several veterinary students. Among those students was a young lady who has graduated and is now the official veterinarian for TROT.
